Description
Femara is the brand name of a substance called Letrozole, which is produced by the company Dragon Pharma. Letrozole is an anti-estrogenic drug belonging to the group of aromatase inhibitors (AIs). The drug was originally created as a treatment for breast cancer in women, but it also used by men for controlling their estrogen levels. Letrozole has a long duration of action, on average about 42 hours. It is the most potent AI used in bodybuilding but is the second most popular after Arimidex (Anastrozole).
Effects of Letrozole
When men take anabolic steroids that are prone to the aromatization process, they initially increase their testosterone levels but the aromatase enzyme will start converting testosterone into estrogen. When estrogen levels become too high in the male body, undesirable side effects occur.
Recommendations for use
The general range of Letrozole doses is approximately 1.25mg – 2.5mg per day. Each individual should start with a low dose of 1.25mg (half a tablet) and slowly adjust their dose depending on how they feel the body is responding. Even 1.25mg daily is too much for many anabolic steroid users. In this case, the recommended dose is 1.25mg every 2 days or even 3-4 days as the half-life of Letrozole is 2 – 4 days.
